The Highway 13 project consisted of a 9.2-mile complete removal of the old pavement and reusing the concrete by crushing it to use for a granular subbase for the new pavement. The new pavement is a 24’ wide 9” thick reinforced at the joints with 6’ concrete shoulders. New concrete at all side road intersections as well as a median turn lane at C64. To help with drainage there is tile added to both sides of the pavement along the entire length of the project, also curb and gutter sections and driveways at most residential properties. New ditch slopes and drainage culverts were installed throughout the job. Ground in centerline and shoulder rumble strips as a safety measure for the total length of the highway.
CJ Moyna was the Prime Contractor and we were a subcontractor. Moyna did all the removals, dirt work, pipe work, and crushing and laying down the granular subbase. We did all final grading of the rock and all the concrete paving.
We had a total of 35 employees including our portable concrete plant. From the start of trimming subbase to the last concrete poured was 9 weeks.
